The Engineering Manager leads and coordinates team of the engineers when performing engineering management of company projects/assets, assessment of conversion and trading candidate aircraft/assets. The Engineering function delivers the technical knowledge and expertise required to support Vallair’s Projects and Technical Project Manager, to provide engineering liaison with Suppliers and Customers, and to validate engineering queries raised in their respective areas of expertise. The Engineering Manager develops and delivers the technical expertise and capability that Vallair is known for, builds and maintains engineering standards to ensure that Vallair provides the best output,

Main Responsibilities:  

 

  • Lead and direct engineering management of Conversion or Trading of prospected aircraft and assets from airworthiness, records, systems, structural, powerplant and technical contractual perspectives to meet mandatory requirements, company standards and delivery conditions as set by Technical Project Manager, covers ATA Chapters not managed by the Lead Engineers’ functions
  • Assist the technical management with collection of data and records to synthesize the conversion process
  • Develop and support the records data required for the marketing campaigns of the company
  • Each aircraft will be followed as individual projects from introduction to delivery and further on as required
  • Pre-purchase inspections of Aircraft/Engine and other assets
  • Records arrangements validation for delivery as per ATA and company standards
  • Engineering delivery follow up with Customer
  • ALS/LLPs BtB review validation
  • Organization and management of Suppliers including but not limited to CAMO, CAA, OEM, STC holders, BSI, repairs etc. Suppliers contract management
  • Control of aircraft cut off period
  • Control of modification status of fleet to meet mandatory requirements and delivery conditions
  • Ensuring database of known modifications is up to date
  • Approving work package, MRF/SRF, POs requests for various technical tasks, including cost/time impact assessment, as driven by analysis and or Project Manager
  • Approving asset specification
  • Approve and present maintenance programmes to the competent authority for further approval and the subsequent review of such programmes
  • Management of new AD/SB/SL and coordinating with other areas of expertise and Project Manager
  • Preservation follow-up
  • Follow up of company procedures such as MRF/SRF, OIL, PO request checkpoint report etc
  • Supporting Technical Project Manager in his day-to-day activity from Engineering perspective: assigning engineering Project Team, Suppliers, plan etc
  • Setting up Project(s) targets for the Lead Engineers
  • Setting up KPIs for the Lead Engineers
  • Meeting targets set up by Project Manager
  • Meeting KPIs set up by Technical Director
  • Substituting Lead Engineer during his/her absence
  • To maintain team training as appropriate in order to fulfil the requirements for the role
  • Managing technical publications – update, storage, and distribution for the group

 

Requested Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position in aircraft/engines acquisition, sales, lease deliveries and re-deliveries of B737/A320FAM/CFM56/V2500 etc
  • At least 5 years’ experience in aviation maintenance/airworthiness departments
  • Good knowledge of EASA and FAA regulations. Other regulations are welcome
  • Good knowledge of OEM and third-party documentation such as Airbus/Boeing MPD, SIL etc
  • Good knowledge of B737/A320FAM/CFM56/V2500 design, operation and maintenance (GenFam course is a must and experience)
  • Passenger-to-freighter conversion experience is desirable
  • Good leadership and negotiations skills
  • Good cost control skills
  • Good project management skills (e.g., PRINCE2 Practitioner)
